The Department of Automotive Engineering, FT UNP, again carried out Community Service (Abdimas) activities in Nagari Batu Basa, Pariangan District, Tanah Datar Regency. This is the 3rd time Abdimas activity in the Automotive Engineering Department has been held in Nagari Batu Basa, namely 2017, 2020 and 2021. This time, Abdimas was held in the form of an injection system motorcycle tune-up training aimed at the unemployed community and took place on 17 until 20 September 2021 at Jorong Sialahan, Nagari Batu Basa. The Abdimas Implementation Team is chaired by Dr. Hasan Maksum, M.T. with members of Drs. Martias, M.Pd. and Dedi Setiawan S.Pd., M.Pd.T., and instructor Ahmad Arif S.Pd., M.T., Dr. Dori Yuvenda, S.Pd., M.T., Iffarial Nanda, S.Pd., M.Pd.T. and one student, Dedi Mulyono.
The training activities were carried out in the meeting room and courtyard of the Head Office of Jorong Sialahan, Nagari Batu Basa which had been prepared by the Head of Jorong and Wali Nagari together with the community. This activity was opened by the Wali Nagari Batu Basa, Jalinus, S.Pd.I. which was marked by the delivery of a training kit from the Head of the Abdimas Implementation Team to the Wali Nagari Batu Basa and witnessed by the Head of Jorong Sialahan, the entire committee and training participants.
This training aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the unemployed community regarding the technology and tune-up of injection system motorcycles in Nagari Batu Basa in accordance with Standard Operational Procedures (SOP). To measure the knowledge and skills of the unemployed community regarding injection system motorcycle technology, an initial evaluation (pre-test) was carried out before training and a final evaluation (post-test) after training. The method used in the training process is the lecture method, question and answer, discussion, demonstration and application. There were 15 people with disabilities who joined this training, on average all participants were enthusiastic and disciplined to take part in the training.
The results achieved after this training activity were an increase in the knowledge and skills of the unemployed community regarding the technology and tune-up of the injection system motorcycle which was marked by the results of the comparison between the pre-test and the post-test and was expected to be applied according to the SOP. This training has made the unemployed people feel helped by getting the knowledge and skills of injection system motorcycle tune-up for free. After this training, it is hoped that young entrepreneurs in the automotive sector can be created, especially in injection system motorcycles in Nagari Batu Basa, Pariangan District, Tanah Datar Regency.
The Tanah Datar Regency Government through the Wali Nagari Batu Basa thanked the Abdimas Team of the Department of Automotive Engineering FT-UNP for the useful knowledge and experience that had been given to the unemployed community in Nagari Batu Basa. They hope that this activity can be continued every year so that it can improve people’s knowledge and skills in the field of motorcycle technology in accordance with technological developments.
