LP2M UNP Padang Holds ICT-Based Learning Media Development Training for Teachers of SMAN1 AND SMAN2 X Koto Singkarak

A total of 34 teachers of SMAN1 and SMAN2 X Singkarak have attended training on the development of learning media based on information and communication technology. The training activities were organized by LP2M Padang State University with the Executive Team as the Chairperson of Drs. Andrizal, M.Pd, Member Dr. R. Handra, M.Pd, and Drs. Erzeddin Alwi, M.Pd from the Department of Automotive Engineering, FT UNP Padang. The training was held for 4 days on September 17, 18, 22, and 23, 2018, at the SMAN1 Singkarak Hall. This training was carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of teachers in designing, creating, and using media in both schools.

The activity was opened by the Principal of SMAN1 Singkarak, Drs. Syafrizal, MM on Monday, September 17 2018. Attending the event was the Education Supervisor for SMA Kota Solok level, Drs. Sustarman, M.Pd, Deputy Head of SMAN 2 X Koto Singkarak, Resource Persons, and the Organizing Committee from Padang State University. In his remarks, the Principal of SMAN1 X Koto Singkarak stated that this kind of training activity is very important to improve competence so that it will create professional teachers. The Principal hopes that all participants can make the best of this opportunity, because this opportunity is rarely found. Hopefully after this activity the participants can increase their professionalism and have an educational spirit because the teacher functions as a place for students to ask questions and consult.

Throughout the training activities, the attitudes and enthusiasm of the participants were very high, the number of participants reached 34 out of the 30 people planned. Many of the questions they ask the instructor or other participants. This training activity has produced 28 learning media from 34 participants, namely 20 media ready to be used in PBM, 8 media in draft form that still need improvement, and the remaining 6 participants still complete the material that will be included in the media. Furthermore, based on the results of the pretest and posttest given, it turned out that their knowledge had also increased significantly. The average pretest score was 48 and posttest was 90, there was an increase of 42 points.

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, the training activity was closed by the Principal of SMAN1 X Koto Singkarak. The principal really hopes that after this training activity, the participants can apply it to their respective subjects so that they can accelerate the transfer of knowledge and make it easier for students to digest the knowledge taught by the teacher. Furthermore, the principal is also very grateful to LP2M UNP Padang, especially the team for implementing training activities and hopes that LP2M UNP can bring other programs for the advancement of SMA X Koto Singkarak in the future.
