SMK Negeri 1 Koto XI Tarusan is one of the educational units at the vocational school level in Batu Hampar, Koto In carrying out its activities, SMK Negeri 1 Koto XI Tarusan is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
SMK Negeri 1 Koto XI Tarusan has a Test Bench Common Rail tool as a tool for calibrating injectors and supply pumps which should be able to be used by students when learning about the common rail diesel fuel injection system but due to lack of knowledge and skills from teachers regarding the use of injector and supply pump calibration tools Common Rail Test Bench The rail so that this calibration tool does not function properly which causes students’ ability to master diesel engine technology with a common rail system is still relatively low.
Through community service activities organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service, Padang State University (LP2M UNP), the Community Partnership Program (PKM) team chaired by Rifdarmon, S.Pd., M.Pd.T. with team members, Prof. Hasan Maksum, M.T. and Irma Yulia Basri, S.Pd., M.Eng. as well as several students, conducted Skills Training on the Use of the Common Rail Test Bench at the Light Vehicle Engineering competency competency workshop at SMK Negeri 1 Koto XI Tarusan which was held on 24-26 August 2023 which was attended by an assembly of teachers and students in the Automotive Engineering expertise program with great enthusiasm.
In this training on skills in using the Common Rail Test Bench, teachers and students are given material regarding diesel motorbikes with a common rail fuel system which consists of basic concepts, introduction (name, function, how they work and layout) of common rail fuel system components and diagnose problems that occur in the common rail fuel system using electronic detection tools or what are usually called scan tools, as well as calibrating injectors and supply pumps in the common rail fuel system using the Common Rail Test Bench calibration tool. The skills training for using the Common Rail Test Bench uses lecture and question and answer methods, discussion methods, demonstration methods and practice methods.
Based on the results of the evaluation during the activity, skills training on the use of the Common Rail Test Bench can be carried out properly and run smoothly according to the plans that have been prepared. This activity received a very good response as evidenced by the active participation of the participants in the mentoring by not leaving the place before the end of the training time. After the dedication was carried out, it was seen that there was an increase in knowledge about basic concepts, introduction (name, function, way of working, and layout) of common rail fuel system components, and diagnosing problems that occur in the common rail fuel system using electronic detectors or commonly known as scan tools, and calibrate injectors and supply pumps on the common rail fuel system using the Common Rail Test Bench calibration tool.
