The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a learning medium requires teachers to have adequate knowledge and skills in integrating them in each subject so that the quality of learning can be improved. One of the phenomena seen at this time is that teachers have not been able to use ICT properly as a medium of learning. This is due to many factors, including a lack of knowledge and skills, a wrong perspective on ICT.
For this reason, through LP2M UNP community service activities, our community service team coordinated with the Leaders of SMKN 1 and SMAN 2 Batusangar to hold a Workshop on Improving Teacher Ability in Utilizing Information and Communication Technology in Learning Development of Learning Media Based on Information and Communication Technology. This activity was held on August 31 and September 1 2019 at the TIK Laboratory of SMKN 1 Batusangkar and was attended by 29 teachers
.
This workshop activity presents materials related to planning and using the Powerpoint program for making learning media. In addition, participants are also trained to be able to use the Format Factory program to edit films or animations that will be included in a PowerPoint slide. The following is the material provided in this PKM program.
- Inserting Movie, Flash and Sound / Music:
- Cut some parts of the desired film.
- Recombine the part of the film that has been cut.
- Add title, text animation and transition effects between videos
- Add a background to the video
- Creating Animations with Custom Animation
- Creating a Student Activity Slide
- Make Slide Quiz / interactive questions
The implementation of this program involves one speaker and three students as assistant speakers. All participants are guided to be able to make media according to the subject being taught by referring to the lesson plans they have previously made.
The success of training activities is measured from two aspects, namely: knowledge aspects measured using pre-test and post-test instruments; and aspects of product quality that are measured using product suitability instruments. Measurement data were processed using descriptive analysis.
The results of the training showed an increase in teacher knowledge by 15.9%, while the resulting products obtained 15 media that were ready for use, 8 media needed minor revisions to the design, and the remaining 6 media were still in draft form and needed further guidance.
This training activity has produced 29 learning media with different qualities; namely 15 media that are ready and can be used in PBM, 8 media still need improvement, and the remaining 6 participants still complete the material that will be included in the media.
Based on the results of the workshop activities, it can be concluded that this activity has succeeded in increasing the knowledge and skills of the teachers of SMKN 1 Batusangkar in designing and making learning media based on Information and Communication Technology.
This activity ended on September 1, 2019 and was closed by the Principal of SMKN 1 Batusangkar. The Principal really hopes that after this training activity, the participants can apply it to their respective subjects so that they can accelerate the transfer of knowledge and make it easier for students to digest the knowledge taught by the teacher. Furthermore, the Principal is also very grateful to LP2M UNP Padang, especially the implementation team for training activities and hopes that LP2M UNP can bring other programs for the advancement of SMKN 1 Batusangkar in the future.
