Injection Motorcycle Service Training Program (Fi) for Conventional Workshop Mechanics in Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo, South Solok Regency

Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo is one of the villages in Pauh Duo District, South Solok Regency with a population of around 3,127 people. Nagari Kapau Alam Pauh Duo has an area of 60,400m2 which is dominated by 308.75 hectares of dry land (rice fields) and 109.40 hectares of wetlands (rice fields). Topographical conditions like this make the Kapau Alam Pauh Duo community dominant to work as farmers in addition to the trade, home industry and tourism sectors. Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo is located ± 136 km from the provincial capital, ± 130 km from the regency capital and ± 5 km from the subdistrict capital. The mode of transportation is a very vital function for the Bayua people. 4 and 2-wheeled vehicles function as the main mode of transportation that supports the economy of residents in sending agricultural products. Apart from transporting agricultural products, the majority of Bayua residents also use motorbikes in their daily lives. Not only can it save time and easy accessibility, the use of motorbikes is also considered to be more cost effective than using public transportation. The large number of motorbikes used by the community has an indirect impact on the economic movement of the residents. From the results of the initial survey conducted, the team found at least 11 motorcycle workshops in Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo.

Talking about the motorcycle repair shop in Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo, on average they have the same problem, namely it is difficult for them to get the latest motorcycle technology up-date, so if there is damage to the latest vehicle (the last 5 years) they prefer to refuse. This happens because workshop mechanics are not people who have an educational background as a mechanic. They are in the mechanic profession more because of their hobby and interest in the automotive field.

Not only that, the equipment they use tends to be simple and sober. There are almost no digital measuring instruments and other special measuring instruments. With this situation, of course the mechanics will have difficulty if they are faced with the latest motorcycle problems with full electronic control. The above problems are the things behind the Automotive PKM TEAM to carry out community service activities in Kenagarian Kapau Alam Pauh Duo.

This activity was carried out thanks to the collaboration between UNP and the Solsel Regency Government who were willing to become PKM UNP partners for the 2019 implementation year. This activity began with a PKM Team meeting with representatives of the Pauh Duo sub-district with an agenda of determining the day, location and technical implementation of PKM activities.

The results of the discussion decided that the activity should be carried out at SMK N 4 South Solok which is located not far from the Pauh duo sub-district office. This activity was attended by 15 conventional workshop mechanics from 4 villages in the Pauh Duo sub-district. The activity begins with a theory session in one of the classes at SMK N 4 Solsel. In the theory session, the participants received introductory material related to the injection system (Fi) on motorbikes.

In this session the participants got a lot of new knowledge related to maintenance and trouble shooting materials on the motorcycle injection (Fi) system. The enthusiasm of the participants in asking questions was quite high because so far they had always rejected every case of damage to the injection motorbike (Fi) because they did not have the competence related to the injection system. After the theoretical session was over then continued with practicum at the TKR workshop at SMK N 4 Solsel. In this session the participants were given material related to the introduction of Fi components and systems, maintenance of the Fi system and troble shooting of the damage to the Fi system. Participants were given the opportunity to practice some cases of damage to the injection system that they encountered while in the workshop.

The same thing was also conveyed by one of the participants who stated that this activity was sufficient to help motorcycle repair service actors in developing competence.
